Sausage & Spinach Pizza with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
This is an elegant and nutritious pie. Enjoy with a local Maine beer!
Sausage & Spinach Pizza with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
Ingredients
  • 10 ounces pizza dough or 1 pizza shell Buy frozen or see recipe below
  • Corn meal for dusting the pan
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 cup artisan Maine fresh ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
  • 1 cup frozen spinach drained & chopped
  • ½ pound sausage cooked, drained & crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons crumbled Maine artisan feta cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Sprinkle a 12-inch pizza pan with corn meal. On a well-floured surface, roll out the dough to fit the pan.
  2. Brush with olive oil, and spread with the Roasted Red Pepper Sauce. Sprinkle the ricotta over the top, then add the chopped spinach and crumbled sausage. Complete with the feta cheese.
  3. Bake until the crust is nicely browned and the top golden, around 15 minutes. (Watch carefully, ovens vary!)
