Ingredients
- 4 – 6 cups peeled apple slices (about 8 apples)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon grated nutmeg
- ¼ cup butter at room temperature
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Butter a 10-inch deep-dish pie pan.
- Peel the apples and slice them into a bowl.
- Add the ¼ cup sugar and 1-teaspoon cinnamon and toss to coat well. Set aside.
- In the bowl of your food processor, pulse the ½ cup oatmeal until it is fine.
- Add the ½ cup all purpose flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. Pulse to combine. Then add the butter and pulse to combine.
- Pour the apples in the prepared pan. Spread the topping over the apples. Bake until the apples are cooked and the juices turn clear, about 40 – 45 minutes.
- If desired, serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
