Aroostook Four Grain Sugar Cookie

  • 1/4 pound butter at room temperature (we like MOO Milk or Houlton Farm butter)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cream or milk (add if needed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup four grain mix


  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Stir in four grain mix. Add milk or cream if the mixture is a bit too thick. Arrange by tablespoons on cookie sheet.
  • Bake in 350 degree oven 8 - 10 minutes until delicately browned.


For lemon cookies, omit vanilla, use 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract and 2 teaspoons grated peel coconut cookies:  add 1/2 cup finely chopped coconut to dough, may need to use a bit more cream Raisin, nut, chocolate chip:  add 1/2 cup of any item to dough, may need to use a bit more cream.
